Biography

Nicholas C. Elliott is a native of New Castle, Delaware. He enlisted into the Marine Corps in September 1999 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

Sergeant Major Elliott subsequently attended the Amphibious Assault Crewman Course at Camp Pendleton, California. Graduating as an 1833 Amphibious Assault Crewman, he then reported to Charlie Company, 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

In 2001, Sergeant Major Elliott deployed aboard the USS Carter Hall with Battalion Landing Team (BLT), 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in support of operations in the Adriatic Sea. During the deployment, he participated in OPERATION RAPID CHEETAH in Kosovo. Upon return, he was promoted to Corporal and served as AAV Crew Chief.

He deployed again in 2003 as Mortar Section Leader, aboard the USS Ponce with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, as part of Task Force Tarawa, attached to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF). Upon returning, Sergeant Major Elliott was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as AAV Section Leader.

Sergeant Major Elliott deployed to Louisiana in 2005 with Task Force Katrina for humanitarian relief. In 2006, he deployed with BLT 1/8, 24th MEU to the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf, participating in the Noncombatant Evacuation Operation (NEO) in Beirut, Lebanon. Upon his return, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and served as Platoon Sergeant.

In 2008, Sergeant Major Elliott transferred to the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group. Following Detachment Commander School, he served in Manama, Bahrain, and Tallinn, Estonia, earning a meritorious promotion to Gunnery Sergeant in July 2011.

Sergeant Major Elliott reported to 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion in 2011, serving as a Platoon Sergeant for Bravo Company. He subsequently deployed as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for a Combat Replacement Team with the Advisor Training Group before returning to the battalion to serve as the Battalion Training Chief.

Promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in 2015, Sergeant Major Elliott received orders to the School of Infantry, Infantry Training Battalion, Company B, where he served as Company First Sergeant.

In 2016, Sergeant Major Elliott received orders to Region 1, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, where he served as Region First Sergeant for 19 Marine Security Guard Detachments in 16 countries across Eastern Europe and Eurasia. He was promoted to his current rank in March 2019 and received orders to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines to serve as the Battalion Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Elliott received orders to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines Sergeant Major in February 2021 and deployed in August 2021 as Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of operations in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Aden.

In July 2022, Sergeant Major Elliott received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 where he served as Command Senior Enlisted Leader . During his assignment, he assisted in providing logistic support packages and personnel detachments to the tactical squadrons of MAG-31 in support of real world operations.

Sergeant Major Elliott assumed the post of Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Marine Aircraft Group 31 in December 2024, where he supported the group's five subordinate squadrons in delivering decisive offensive air support and aviation logistics to the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF).

In July 2026, he assumed his current position as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21.

Sergeant Major Elliott holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Summa Cum Laude, from Liberty University. His awards and personal decorations include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 gold stars in lieu of forth award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of third award, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Clayton B. Vogel Leadership Award.
