Lieutenant Colonel Kyle A. Bookhout

Born in Frankfort, Illinois, LtCol Bookhout, graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Oceanography in 2010. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in May 2010 and subsequently attended The Basic School (TBS) from September 2010 to March 2011.
Following The Basic School, LtCol Bookhout completed flight training at MATSG-21, 33d Flying Training Squadron, VT-31, and KC-130J FRD from March 2011 to June 2013, where he was designated a KC-130J copilot.
LtCol Bookhout checked into VMGR-252 in June 2013 and assumed the duties of S-4 OIC, Mission Planning Officer, and Flight Duty Officer before deploying in support of SPMAGTF-CR-AF 15.1. LtCol Bookhout served as the ACE Mission Planning Officer for the duration of the deployment. Upon his return in July 2015, LtCol Bookhout upgraded to Aircraft Commander and served as the squadron’s NATOPS Officer. In March 2016, LtCol Bookhout deployed in support of SPMATF-CR-AF 16.1.
In May of 2016, LtCol Bookhout attended the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduation in May 2017, LtCol Bookhout assumed the duties of the Fixed Wing Company Grade Monitor at Manpower Management Officer Assignments Two until June 2020. During this period, LtCol Bookhout oversaw the assignments and career progression of over 1,500 company grade fixed wing and unmanned aerial systems pilots.
In June 2020, LtCol Bookhout attended Command and Staff College at the Marine Corps University. Upon graduation in June 2021, LtCol Bookhout reported to VMGR-252 where he served as the VMGR Detachment Officer in Charge for the ACE CR-AF 22.2 deployment to Djibouti, Africa. Upon his return from deployment in August 2022, LtCol Bookhout assumed the duties of Aircraft Maintenance Officer from September 2022 to June 2023.
In July 2023, LtCol Bookhout reported to Training Command in Quantico, Virginia and assumed the duties of the Aviation Production Manager and Officer Production Manager where he oversaw the entry level training for all ground officers and undergraduate flight training for the Marine Corps. In February 2025, LtCol Bookhout assumed the duties of the Production Management Branch Head and managed all enlisted and officer entry level, intermediate, and advanced training pipelines for the Marine Corps. In July 2026, LtCol Bookhout checked into MATSG-21 to serve as the Executive Officer.
